About the Program
An Honorary Doctorate is an individual’s first step towards the world of research
and new knowledge. It provides an opportunity for business leaders to create a
transformational change and translate their expertise for higher credibility and
serve as an authority on the industry. AIMRI’s Honorary Industrial Doctorate Program
honors Industry professionals for their sustained achievements in their field of
expertise.
The first-ever Honorary Doctorate, in the history of AIMRI, was awarded to Dr. Ravi
Mehrotra (Chairman of Foresight Group, UK) for rendering extraordinary service to
the maritime industry for the past 57 years. His Professional Biography, “What’s It
in For You?” (published in 2012) and his unparalleled accomplishments and personal
achievements made him worthy of this honor.
AIMRI has awarded 90+ professionals with the Industrial Doctorate in the last 3 years. This year AIMRI will be awarding an Industrial Ph.D. in association with the European International University (www.eiu.ac)

Prof (Dr) Sunil Kumar P G is a Navy veteran, and is at present working as Professor of Naval Architecture & Shipbuilding and the Dean of Research at SNG College of Engineering, Kerala, India. He is an alumnus of Cochin University of Science and Technology, Indian Institute of Technology New Delhi and University College London, with PhD in structural analysis of ships. His vast experience as a professional engineer for 3 decades covers academic and industrial fields including teaching in reputed universities and colleges, academic and industrial research guidance and mentoring, design maintenance and repair of ships and submarines, operations and maintenance of marine assets etc.

Dr. B. Anirudhan is the Principal of Nehru Arts and College with 28 years of experience in Teaching Research and Administration. He has organised 35 Conference, Seminar and Workshops at national and international levels and published more than 40 Research Articles and 3 books. He has organized and chaired International Conferences in Malaysia, Bangkok, Dubai, Indonesia and Australia. Being a coordinator of the Winning Team in the VI National Youth Parliament Competition, he was awarded by Mr. Gulam Nabi Azad, Hon. Minister, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, and Govt. of India on 17 th Feb. 2005 at New Delhi. The College has got the 2 (f) and 12 (B) status of UGC and “A” by NAAC through his guidance. After 30 years of his service to the organization, he retired in 2013 to join as the Sr. Vice President, Operations, AGAPPE Diagnostics Ltd, Cochin. Dr. Satheesh is also working as a Visiting faculty for Lectures on topics on Regulatory affairs for different Pharma colleges and Examiner for Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at JSS University, Mysore/Ooty. He completed his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from Vinayaka Missions, Salem; Diploma in Business Management and LL.B from M.G. University. He has been instrumental in auditing and supervising many Pharmaceutical firms and Medical Devices for regulatory certifications and assessment of quality standards. Chairman - International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) President & Managing Director - GRIMALDI EUROMED S.p.A.
Born in Naples, Italy in 1960, Emanuele Grimaldi started his career at his family's Grimaldi Group, and soon rose to top management positions in Italy and internationally. Over the past 20 years, Grimaldi has been instrumental in significantly expanding the Group's Euro-Mediterranean short sea and motorway of the sea services. He currently serves as President and Managing Director of several Grimaldi Group companies and Chairman of Finnlines. He has been actively involved in shipping industry organizations, serving as Chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping, Past President of the European Community Shipowners' Association, and in leadership roles for Italian shipping associations. He has also been recognized with honors including Commander of the Order of the Lion of Finland for his contributions to developing maritime logistics and motorways of the sea.
Captain Mohamed Al Ali
Senior Vice President (Offshore Logistics), ADNOC Logistics & Services
Captain Mohamed Al Ali is the senior vice president offshore logistics at ADNOC L&S. He began his career in 1996 as a deck cadet with National Gas Shipping Company, rising to become the UAE's first National Master on an LNG carrier in 2008. At NGSCO, he spearheaded energy efficiency initiatives that achieved a 23% reduction in energy and carbon footprint. In 2013, Captain Al Ali joined ADNOC Logistics and Services as Senior Vice President of Ship Management, overseeing ADNOC's LNG, LPG, oil tanker, chemical, sulfur, bulk, and container vessels. Captain Al Ali has dedicated his career to supporting the UAE's National Marine workforce and building a firm foundation in the country. Under his leadership, ADNOC Logistics and Services implemented one of the world's largest Offshore Integrated Logistics platforms, bringing major efficiencies to the UAE's offshore industry.

Chief Executive Officer and Director, Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited
Dr. Jayakumar is an accomplished leader in port development and renewable energy, with over 3 decades of experience. As MD of Vizhinjam International Seaport since 2004, he spearheaded India's first deepwater transhipment port, transforming it from concept to near-launch in 2024. His strategic vision and tireless efforts were pivotal in positioning Vizhinjam port as a game-changer for India's maritime capabilities. As Senior Project Manager of India's pilot offshore wave power plant in 1988-94, he led the planning, design and installation of this pioneering renewable energy project. As Port Development Manager in Malaysia during 1996-98, he provided vital technical expertise for developing state-of-the-art port facilities at Westport. He is a Qualified graduate Mechanical Engineer, with more than 35 years of experience in Oil & Gas industry (onshore and offshore facilities). During this time, he worked with international companies like Abu Dhabi Ports, ADNOC Offshore, ZADCO, SUCO, Cx.C.C and Suez Canal Authority. In addition he has offshore experience on different types of barges in Arabian Gulf. As Mechanical engineer, he has been responsible for maintenance and condition monitoring of static equipment and rotating equipment in Zeit bay, and long term and short term planning for shut down activities and major overhauls. In his last 13 years of experience, he was focused in the field of offshore inspection, maintenance of Structures, pipelines and S.B.M's onboard inspection and maintenance vessels in Zakum, Satah, Zirku and Umm Al-Dalkh fields, usage of Navigation system DGPS(Starnav) and Fugro navigation system.
